Respected hon Minister Vasant Banwaree, Members of the legislative assembly, secretary of the labour party, Mr Deva Veerasawmy Town secretary, Cadres, Outgoing Mayor and Deputy Mayor, councillors, former Mayors, Distinguished Guests,my dear friends citizens of the Town of Curepipe.

I have been beckoned to take the helm of this historical and cultural Town of curepipe and I would foremost thank the leader of the social Alliance, the Hon Navin Chandra Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, my Minister James burty David and the Labour party for their confidence and support in this endeavour.

I seize this opportunity to thank the outgoing mayor and his deputy for the work accomplished.
May I reassure them that I shall do my utmost not to upset their strategic plan and that I shall ensure continuity. However, I shall make sure that new ideas from 'comitees des Quartier' and 'force vive' are listened to.

I know that one year won't suffice to translate every aspect of my vision into action; I shall ensure with my team of councillors that these suggestions and ideas do not simmer down but have a dynamic momemtum.

This responsibility conferred to me is not a one man task. I appeal to the team of cadres and the councillors to be on my side in this challenging journey. Let us put aside our personal ego, let us make our difference in thoughts not a reason for conflict or divergence but a reason to converge and a reason to synergize our energy. Let dangling changes to come not be seen as a threat but an opportunity to channel our force and be resolutely cruise in the same direction.

Let us not forget that our Mission and statutory duty is the betterment of the citizen's and the advancement of the town.

Long live Curepipe, our mother town.

Mayor of Curepipe
